and represent me well to others (verse 7).

Honor your father and your mother (verse 12).
You shall not murder (verse 13).
You shall not commit adultery (verse 14).
You shall not steal (verse 15).
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor (verse 16).
You shall not covet (verse 17).
These commandments are God’s gift to his people, enabling them to change and live as God’s children. Our obedience to God’s commandments is how we become lights in this world of darkness and sin.
We must confess that the Ten Commandments are not bare “guidelines” for how we should act, but are means by which we as God’s people come to understand God better. They are a reflection of him, and since we in Christ are re-created in his image, we ought to honor and keep these laws. (NIVAC-P. Enns)
Honor your father and mother–-importance of family, respect authority, humility.
You shall not murder––love our neighbor, control our anger, and prevent personal revenge.
You shall not commit adultery––sanctity of marriage, self-control, self-discipline.
Exodus 20:15 (NIV)
You shall not steal.
Citizens steal from the government … The [politicians] government steals too… There is also theft at work …employers often steal from their workers… Many common business practices are immoral, even if technically they are not illegal. This is especially true in marketing…There is insurance fraud, the filing of false claims… theft of intellectual property and the violation of copyrights… There is plagiarism… There are countless ways to steal… The trouble is that when it comes to stealing, nearly everyone is doing it. Yet nearly 90 percent of evangelical Christians claim that they never break the eighth commandment…What it shows is that Christians have forgotten what stealing really means. (Ryken)
You shall not commit adultery.
"these are not really stealing," "everyone is doing it," "they won’t even miss it."
(1) The line between right and wrong.
(2) Developing bad habits.
(3) Integrity.
What happens when we, as members of society, disregard the 8th commandment?
Stealing from one’s “neighbor,” as with the seventh commandment, is a threat to society. It breeds distrust and strife. (NIVAC)
conclusion
Trusting God and Contentment.
Matthew 6:25-26, 31-32 (NIV)
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?... 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how he flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
